Root Canals

Many people are dismayed to learn that they need a root canal. But a root canal is actually a conservative treatment to save a tooth from extraction. Dr. Weiner uses modern instruments and techniques to make root canal therapy a positive, comfortable experience.

Do I need a root canal?
If you have tooth pain or pressure, you may require a root canal. When the canals that house the pulp of a tooth are damaged by a deep cavity, tooth fracture, or other trauma, infection can set in. This can cause intense, painful pressure to build up, and the tooth can die. Left untreated, you may experience tooth, gum, and bone loss or a blood-borne infection.

What happens during a root canal?
Dr. Weiner will remove the infected matter and insert a safe, biologically inert substance into the prepared canals. He’ll seal the tooth with a crown to restore strength, function, and comfort.

Will it hurt?
We offer comfortable anesthesia for a comfortable experience. Dr. Weiner will discuss your concerns and work with you to make your root canal positive and successful.

What if I need a specialist?
If your tooth requires the care of a specialist, Dr. Weiner will refer you to an endodontist, a dentist specializing in internal tooth problems.
